A Life In Pictures

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

A photograph is a physical representation of a fleeting moment, and often shapes our memory of that time.  For someone like Michael Jackson, a superstar, his every move- the good, bad and the ugly, were photographed and documented.  It has been years and years since the world viewed him in a positive light.  Now that he is gone, I want to remember him at his best- before all the allegations, odd behavior, and plastic surgery.  I want to remember him as the incredibly talented entertainer that we was.

The Creative Process

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

I was profiled on Cyndi Lavin’s blog here.  It was really fun to to talk about my creative process, background and vision.

Cyndi’s blog, www.layersuponlayers.com, focuses on mixed media art.  It’s an inspiring collection of interviews and how-to’s that will get the inner artist in you to start thinking….  What can I create with what I have at home?  With the holidays nearing, you might find some homemade gift ideas!

Banana Bread for Breakfast

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

This recipe is so easy, and so good!  I love that it uses ingredients that I usually have in the house, and it’s the perfect way to use those last two bananas in the bunch that have gotten a little mushy.  It makes a great breakfast, house gift or snack throughout the week.

Ingredients:
2 eggs
1/2 cup oil
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3 ripe (or over- ripe) bananas, mashed with a fork
1 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 350

Combine eggs, oil, sugar and vanilla.  Mix until creamy.  Add banana and blend well.  Add flour and baking soda.  Lightly dust walnuts with flour and fold into batter.  Pour into a greased loaf pan.
Bake for One Hour.

We Did It!

Thanks to Wink’s amazing clients, we reached our goal of curing one child’s smile with another. We raised enough money through our Father’s Day Portrait Sale to donate a cleft lip and palate surgery which will be facilitated through the organization, Smile Train. 6-before-photos-12.jpg

Photography + Stationery = A Perfect Match

When event planner Kimberlee Bendeck, owner of Boutiquevents, expressed her wish to incorporate an image of her client’s newly-built house for his housewarming party invitations, I knew this project would be a blast.

Kimberlee’s Killer Concept-

To have the invitation express the opening of one’s home to friends by creating a graphic of her client’s house to be used on the envelope liner.

Concept to Page-

Working from a simple color photo provided by the client, I created an image of the house that looked like a drawing. Care was taken to position the image so as much of the house was seen as possible, while keeping the image a bit abstract.

The printing method matched the invites- chocolate brown ink on smooth cream paper.

The Effect-

By opening the envelope, the guest is being invited to the home. Brilliant!

It’s sophisticated and chic, with that wonderful element of the unexpected.
